I've just built a system with an "Emprex 16x Dual-Layer DVD+/-RW" drive.
At shutdown and startup, the drive retracts the tray as one would expect.
But before the actual boot from a device, it extends the tray again, and it
promptly extends it if I close the tray, whether a disk is present or not,
The drive is master on the secondary UDMA/PATA channel, with a no-name DVD
drive as slave. I plan to re-confirm the jumper settings on both drives,
but the BIOS initialization finds and reports them correctly.
[This is the first system I've built without a floppy drive, and I've used
an Antec "Sonata II" case which is engineered to minimize noise since sound
recording will be a major application....]
