So, apparently if you don't have your heatsink properly installed, it causes the CPU to sit idle at least 40 degrees C more than it should and overheat and shut the computer off as soon as you do anything taxing with it. =)  On a serious note, I really do appreciate all of ya'll tips and advice and am now happy to say I'm typing this on my new machine and everything working just great! Thanx again!
