You should be able to boot off your XP cd to run the install program

If not your bios setting for boot order is not set to boot off "cdrom"

If your not happy the way xp looks or runs you can chane that to suit your self.
as im an old win98 user. I prefere to set the desk top to look like win98 desktop.
