Make sure all your cables are secure. If they are, then remove the DVDR you
just installed, if the pc boots now, it's a faulty drive.

Subject: [PCBUILD] sudden failure to POST
I attempted to install a different media burner tonight. Now my machine
won't boot. I went in to replace my CD burner with a DVD burner. First, I
uninstalled the software for the CD burner. Then I removed the drive from
device manager. Then I removed references to the just-uninstalled software
from the registry and shut down the machine. After putting in the new (used
actually) drive, the machine does not POST. The power comes on. Fans spin.
There's a little bit of activity from the HDD and then it stops. Nothing
appears on the monitor.Tried a different video card, no change.Tried a
different monitor, no change.BIOS battery tested at 2.98 volts.I didn't
touch either the memory or the CPU.It's a steel case. I don't think I could
get into it w/o grounding myself even if I tried. What do you suppose I've
done to it? Thanks -Barry.
