CLiff over at avvid as well as a few other people that work on them a lot
told me once that if you have that cleaned up before it gets to be a
problem, and it's done right, no parts have to be removed, another common
thing was the IC chip socket went bad in some of them. They remove the
socket and solder the chip right to the board. When I had 1 of mine, that
was all done before I got it, though the radio was never used, the guy
bought it and had all that done in 1989 when he got it and I never had a
problem, I actually miss that particular radio.
