Rhonda,
It occurred to me that perhaps God was doing a little training for Moses.
If you look at Mose's life, there are indications he needed a little
learning, a little prompting. When he was to lead the folks out of Egypt,
he said, "Who. Me?" God. You got to bebebebeb bebebe beb be ki ki ki ki
kid kid kid kidding. I'm poor in spespespespespespespespespespe speech.
I'm not your man!". When God was going to lead them across the Red Sea,
Moses said to the people, "Stand by and watch your god in action". God
said "Wait just a minute pal. What are you holding in your hand there?
Did I not give you a staff? Moses, you raise that thing up and take
control here". So I'm thinking perhaps God needed to build a little bit of
a confidence builder in Moses, get him to think a bit. While he was on the
mountain, Arron built that calf and all, I wonder if God hadn't stated his
desire, not necessarily his intention, to wipe them out, would Moses had
enough guts to handle the situation without a little motivation. Just a
thought. If god is omniscient, the question is not whether he knew he'd
change his mind, but rather why he made it evident to us in his word
through that incident with Moses, that he would like to. I'll tell you
that you can argue God and Christianity with philosophy profs all the live
long day and they'll argue the fact because of the need for faith, full
stop. A while back I posted a note of an apparent dialog between a college
professor and a student supporting Christianity. It first looked as though
the student was losing but in the end left the instructor speechless.
Anyone got that handy? rhonda might find that one useful hehehe.

Hi there: in my philosophy class we are doing a unit on the Philosophy Of
Religion, and a discussion has been started,
If God is omnipotent, how does that go along with his changing his mind,
if
he is omnipotent wouldn't He know he was going to change his mind?
What do you think?
