Hello my name is Ryan McManomy
Call sign KB9RAM
I have my technician license but have never really got to experience the
true spirit of ham radio.
I would like to get more deeply involved in all aspects that so far I have
heard about and that got me interested in ham radio in the first place.
Such as fox hunts, ARES, Races, and field days.
All the knowledge I have is what I have taken from the study materials that
I used to pass the test and get my license but besides talking on repeaters
have never really use my newly gotten knowledge or use and work on my
skills.
I have been looking to see what ham clubs I may have in my Area I think they
can help me especially since I am considering upgrading to general class to
give me more capability
But I would also like to do what I can wile I am waiting for all of this to
come around.
I have been getting QST on tape to try to learn more but it is over my head
when they start talking about transistors filters lengths of wire and
cables.
Is there anything I can read to learn this stuff that may be more in layman
terms?
Or a list of people who may be willing to be a mentored and grow in my ham
radio knowledge and skills.
All help and thoughts and suggestions are welcome!
Thanks!
