Larry,

You go, bro! When son David took over the student government at his
college the previous body tore up their by-laws & draft constitution,
saying that they would not share their hard work with the enemy... which
was just fine by David as if they had left the situation in-place then
the new government would have to live by the rules set by the previous
government. What they got handed, instead, was a clean slate. In short,
think through the resistance and figure out how to put it to your
advantage to affect the policy that you were elected to embody. Our
company currently consists of one old fart and two rather sharp
political scientists. If it were me I'd take to setting a specific time
each day to walk back n' forth outside the building, where you can be
seen, and be seen, and do this with it in mind to get the attention of
the hired staff... and alternate with a few days of doing nothing much
but smiling and waving at cars, or whatever, but not to recognize the
building occupants... then do something weird... then act real plain for
a while... then do something weird. One weird thing you could do,
playing along with this would be to show up dressed as a giant red heart
after three days of being dressed in your usual street clothes. Drive
them nuts wondering what the hell you are up to... and get the attention
of the press... but NO interviews because you need to wait until Jan
one. Or, being more kind, you could possible send each member of the
staff flowers, but do it on separate and sporadic days?
