You could also try TextAloud Version 2 which converts pdf to plain text (and reads it as well)

Subject: PDF text files
Hi all!
Wondering if there's any new info out there about easily being able to
convert PDF files into plain text? I used to be able to send files
off to the Trace Center in We, and they would magicly return to me a
few minutes later all ready to read. But as far as I know, that
hasn't been an optin for some time now.
Thanks in addvance for any leads you might be able to give me here.
Gary
