I can understand how that works. There are times that the best laid plans
run amuck.
First off, upgrading to XP from ME on an eMachines computer is proprietary
in nature is difficult at best. By the looks of it your computer is elderly.
All of the necessary drivers for accessories such as video, sound and
whatever else are all on the disk or disks that came with the computer from
the manufacturer. Because XP is a different kind of operating system than
ME, the drivers that came with the original setup are probably not
compatible and therefore were not installed when you upgraded to XP. Knowing
the model number and such, you may be able to down load the specific drivers
from eMachines that are compatible with XP. Or if you have the original
installation or recovery disks for ME, you may be able to search for the
specific drivers. A note of caution here is they may not work. The reason
for this is the drivers are platform specific which means they are intended
for that particular model machine and operating system coupled with the
installation. This is one of the pit falls of purchasing a proprietary
system. You have little or no room for upgrades. The manufacture may have XP
disks for your machine but at a cost.

As Joseph Marty indicated, the specified drivers for the video are not
installed. Again, these are on the original installation disk that came with
the computer.

This may be a third party software that was included with the system. You
may want to go to the eMachines website, http://www.e4me.com/ and see if you
can find out any information on your specific system. Due to the age of the
computer drivers and such may not be available but it's worth a try. The
feature you may e referring to for phone call notification is called,
"Internet Call Notification." This site will give you information on the
feature and also give you instructions on how to install it.
http://www.usr.com/support/s-modem/s-modem-docs/ICN/two.html If you have the
installation disk for the modem the drivers for Internet Call Notification
may be on the disk. Again, if this modem came with the original package the
drivers may be on the recovery or installation disk (s) that came with the
machine. Short of that I don't know what else to add.
Sincerely,
Frank Suszka
