There are instructions for testing a power supply at,
http://www.pcpowercooling.com/support/ATX_troubleshoot.htm
Unfortunately, this test is not perfect. I had a bad power supply that
tested ok using this test. However, if the test shows the p.s. to be bad,
then it is probably bad. You need to know, that the p.s. could be good and
the machine still not light up if other things are bad (primarily the
motherboard). The above is a good first test, though.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Power Supply problem
E-machines t2885. I'm getting no power at all to the
machine. Tried switching power cords and plugging
directly into the wall instead of the surge, nothing.
Monitor is still working and everything else plugged
into the surge as well.
I checked online and a few sources said power source
gone bad, but that it's pretty easy to replace.
How would I go about checking for sure, and then
replacing it?
It's 2.8 gig, 512 mb if that has any bearing.
The NOSPIN Group Promotions is now offering
our special coffee mugs and mouse pads
with the PCBUILD logo... at a great price!!!
