Nothing inside the case was disturbed. There were no driver problems. I
never did have BIOS do a complete mem check (should have, but ...!)
I took the Kbyte sticks back and traded them in for the same Kinston sticks
and walla - it all works now. We even went up 4Gb (4 sticks) and all is
well! Except that WinXP (32-bit) does not see the RAM above about 3.02Gb,
but docs state that PCI, etc. interfaces will see and use it.
Bottom line is Kbyte is not that reliable and Kingston is more universally
compatible.

Since the BIOS and XP in safe mode both see 2GB of RAM, I would consider
other reasons for XP not loading into regular mode. Though first, is the
BIOS set to check all the memory when the computer first comes on? With
2GB, it will take a while , but can later be turned off.
Since the problem started after you had been inside the case, you should
probably check all the card and CPU seatings, cable connections and fan
operations to make sure nothing was disturbed.
With XP in safe mode, check Device Manager to make sure there are no
driver problems. Then run "chkdsk".
Let us know the results one way or the other for our edification or
further assistance.
