Very likely.

Borrow a monitor from someone, or hookup your monitor to some other
computer.
And to the next question "can it be fixed", the cost of any repair almost
always exceeds the cost of a new monitor.

Subject: [PCBUILD] monitor problem
My monitor frequently goes black for random lengths of time (for instance,
last night it would be black most of the time, and blink on for 5 or 10
seconds, then black again; while today it was off for a few minutes at a
time, then on for a few minutes, and now it has stayed on for maybe an hour
straight.) The power light stays on when it goes black.
Is my monitor dying, or is this likely another problem? How can I tell what
is the problem?
I have a Dell which is running Windows XP
If you don't mind, could you copy replies to [log in to unmask] in case I
cannot get my monitor to work?
Thanks,
Karen Smith
