Hi Guys,
Well, I thought that I would just write a quick note to give you an
update on my sanity. Hahaha! Greg and I visited the Teen Challenge web
site this morning. Teen Challenge is a ministry that was begun by David
Wilkerson in the early 60s as an outreach to troubled gangsters on the
streets of New York. You may remember the book, or the movie, The Cross
and the Switch Blade, about Nicki Crews? Well, that’s kind of the
beginning.
Anyway, they do not have a chapter in Bangor at present, but as Greg and
I were doing a little shopping last Saturday, we came out of a store and
a Guy from Teen challenge was there, handing out literature and taking a
collection to try to get the ministry started up here in this area. We
stopped and talked to him about several things and, anyway, having a
memory of this ministry jogged in our memory, we decided to come home and
check it out. Too bad it took three days to do so.
Anyway, the site has some really good advice for parents about how not to
enable, which I don’t believe we have been, and how to try to stay on top
of the situation with an out of control teen. It really has some good
stuff.
Anyway, I wanted to share with you a little peace off the site that
really helped to encourage me this morning. They actually focused on
Galatians 6:7-8, which reads,
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The
one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap
destruction; the one who sows to please the spirit, from the spirit will
reap eternal life." It basicly reminded me that God will not be mocked.
Chris may deceive himself, but he can’t fool God and eventually, things
will work out by God’s guideance.
I, however, was reminded, perhaps by God, of the next verse. Galatians
6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we
will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Basicly, it was another kind of
moment like the ones that you guys give me from time to time about
bucking up and keeping on. It was good to be reminded of these holy
things.
God bless,
Thanks again for the prayers.
Kathy
