As many of you know, our 8 year old grandson lives with us until his mother
is out of the Christian drug rehab program she is currently in. Little
Everett has been taking Karate since he was like 5 or 6 years of age.
Sunday, he was tested for his first brown belt. There are two levels of
brown belts in Karate before the black belt levels begin. Little Everett
passed. In December, he will take the next brown belt test and next June,
he will test for his first black belt and he will still only be 9 years of
age. There is a 13 year old girl in the school who has her third degree
black belt already. My youngest son, Big Everett, is 22 years old and he
only has his third degree black belt. Next summer, however, my son will be
testing for his fourth degree black belt. I think there are 8 black belt
levels he told me once. Once you reach level five, you are called grand
master black belts. At least I think I have all of this correct. Anyhow,
just a proud grandpa speaking his mind.
Phil.
