Yah,Phil,
I agree with what you say. We tried family devotions. It worked
when the kids were little, but as they got older it just proved to be a
headache and we turned to working on relationships rather than routine.
It's a lot more natural this way and opportunities to disciple the kids
do come along from time to time. The kids are learning more about our
faith from watching us than from our lectures anyway.
I personally do like having a more systematic approach to my
bible reading. Before I had that, I can't tell you the amount of time I
wasted, sitting and wondering, "well Lord, what should I read today?" It
just works better for me and I have fun discovering how the bible fits
together. If I didn't have a systematic approach, there are probably
passages that I'd never bother to read, like Ezra 7. Who needs it?
However, God thought that it was important enough to include and I can
face reading it better the way that I do it. However, that is my
personal choice, between God and myself, as you said. I'd never insist
that it is the best way for everybody.
Kathy
