Well, the meeting is over and, sure enough, the chairman asked Greg how
he would react if a proposal was made this Sunday, at our quarterly
business meeting, to reduce Greg from a full time to a part time pastor.
Greg made four points, which I think are excellent so I'm sharing them
with you.
Greg said,
1. By asking me to do this you are admitting your failure.
2. By asking me to do this, you are only going to make it more difficult
to attract another pastor after me because you won't even be able
to offer a living wage and the cost of living will only continue to go
up every year that I am here.
3. If you do ask me to cut back my ministry, I want to know which of you
are willing to step in and do the work that still needs to be
done while I'm at the post office.
4. (Admittedly, this one is my favorite.) If you ask me and my family
to reduce our income, you are asking my family, one
giving unit to sacrifice enough to make up for all of your lack of
giving.
Wow! God really does put the words in your mouth when you need them.
Well, who knows what is going to happen next. I'll let you know as it
unfolds.
If you guys are getting tired of hearing all the gritty details of my
life, just tell me to keep quiet. It's just that you are my friends and
I know that you pray and that is more valuable to me than anything!
Love,
Kathy
