Hi, all. Mom was a little more coherent today, although she'd go in and
out. At one point she knew she was in the hospital, and at another time
she thought she was in her doctor's office. They'll be doing more tests
this afternoon (an MRI and ecocardiogram), but at this point the doctor
believes she had a stroke. He said she's not going home when she's
released from the hospital. Once they finish testing and evaluating her
and know where she's at, a caseworker will tell us what options we have as
to where to put her, and we'll make our decision from there. And all this
means that my aunt, who has lived with my mom for almost 9 years, will need
to make some decisions about where she wants to live. We told her we could
put the apartment into her name, since she's comfortable there and can get
to the store, etc. But she's also talked about how much she misses
Washington, where her late son and her daughter-in-law and granddaughter
have been living. But if she moved up there, they'd probably put her in a
home of some kind. So there are lots of decisions to be made.
So that's the latest from here.
Peggy
