Phil,
I know how we can get ourselves into situations like that.  In spite of the
way you handled it, you were willing to put your pride aside and let you son
know that you were sorry for the hard feelings.  We, many times, have to
withstand our children because of our convictions and , many times, we can
damage our relationships.  If only we let love reign and our relationship
with the Lord prevail, our relationships with our children can grow.
