Compaq (now HP) has an extensive library of material on its support site.
Its manuals are called Technical Reference Guides - they cover a wide array
of topics including troubleshooting, removal and replacement of components,
diagnostics and passwords.

If you are not experienced at disassembling notebooks, a useful trick is to
obtain a piece of thick corrugated cardboard - when you remove a screw,
punch it into the cardboard at the same location. It makes assembly much
easier with screws of different lengths and threads.
