If your interest is in providing speech output of math equations, then that can be accomplished through providing the content using Mathematical Markup Language (MathML). In the SMART Project, we found very good results for students with learning disabilities who were using the TextHelp Read & Write Gold text reader combined with the free plugin called MathPlayer. The two products work together seamlessly to provide access to both the literary text and the math equations. Here's an article about interim results on the SMART Project: http://www.ksba.org/news/article/math-study-evaluates-digital-aids

Good afternoon!
Has anyone been working with or know of any assistive technology that can be
purchased or downloaded for free that provides access to mathematics,
especially equations and formulas? The tool or tools would be for people
who have a learning disability who are having problems with math.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Terry A. Martin, MS Ed
