Vinny,
I do know that Valentine was a real person, a priest I believe.  The
story that Helen forwarded about him marrying soldiers against the will
of the Emperor is the one that I have heard, but there is yet another one
that I just can't remember right now.  Claudius ruled from 40 AD to 54
AD, howeverr, and I thought that Valentine was from the third century.
Anyway,  It looks like you can take your pick of the versions of the
story that you like best.  Personally, I think that Phil is more right
than anybody, it's a money maker.
