Hi.
If you just request a new call when you file your change of address, you'll
be given a 2 by 2 call. If you want a 2 by 1 or 1 by 2 call, you'll have
to apply for a vanity call, which you have to pay a fee to apply for. I've
forgotten what the exact fee is, but I believe it is under $20. What you
will want to do is do a little research, and consider which callsigns you
want to apply for, and check to see if they are vacant. When you apply for
the vanity call, you'll request a first, second, and third preference, and
the FCC will assign to you the first call in your list of preferences that
is available.
In my case, I got my first choice, but I think 1 by 3 calls are a bit
easier, and I wanted a callsign with my initials.
