Hi Butch:

Yes, the fan does run quite a bit; in fact is a two speed fan and when you
transmit on high power quite a lot, it runs even at a faster speed.
I have the delux power supply and it has a small fan also.
I do not leave mine on 24 hours either.
I sure do enjoy the radio!
