Hi Jan,

I would simply call the ARRL and ask for the club division.  if you give
them your city, they should be able to tell you if there is a club in your
area and how to reach them.

You might also contact the Handi Hams system in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
They have courses available on tape I believe, and should be able to get you
started.
