Subject: Looking for useful free or inexpensive computer software
The Adaptech Research Network's studies have revealed that the high cost of
adaptive software is a barrier for many postsecondary students with
disabilities. We have compiled of a list of free and/or inexpensive hardware
and software solutions that might be useful. Some are long-running demos,
while others are fully functional freeware. We are not suggesting our list
replace the more sophisticated software out there. Our list is meant to
provide possible alternatives and an opportunity to try products. The
current list is available at
http://adaptech.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/download.htm in English and at
http://adaptech.dawsoncollege.qc.ca/downloadf.htm in French.
We are currently updating the list and are looking for suggestions of useful
free or inexpensive ($200.00 or cheaper) computer software (e.g.,
ReadPlease) and hardware (e.g., affordable mice that individuals with
disabilities have found useful). These could be either popular/mainstream
or adaptive technologies.
Please help us by sending the product's name and, if possible, the web
address where we can find more about it to [log in to unmask]
