Hi Pat,
Praise the Lord that you are doing better now.
I believe that we should, as much as is possible, appologize to a person
where wrong or not.  We don't have to appologize for being wrong, if we
aren't, but we can appologize to them  for the problem that is between the
two and offer to make settlement or restitution.  This then releases us for
the  bitterness that could develop because of the separation between us an
the other person.
