Cross post from Timber Frame Business Council:

>My name is Elizabeth Liolin. I work for a structural engineering
company, LZA Technology.
We have been working on an existing old farmhouse-turned-country club.
The timber thicknesses range from 2" to 1-1/2" from the original
structure to the various additions made to be building. We do not have
documentation of when the additions were made, and I have been trying to
research the timeline of the change in thickness standards for timber. I
have yet to find any dates and I was hoping you might be able to help
me, or at least direct my next approach. I appreciate any help you can
offer. Thank you!<

I don't have the answer on the tip of my chisel since we (timber
framers) tend to work with stuff 3" and thicker, which of course lead to
a little confusion when I read her question.

Any o'yous got the ansah?
