I have two XP machines networked through a hub (which is connected to the
internet) and I want to be able to share files and hardware between the two.
(I have a Netdefense firewall in each machine and run antivirus (updated
constantly) on them. [I have found that V-com's SystemSuite is most helpful}
In the past, unless I unchecked the windows XP firewall, I could not get to
one machine from the other, therefore I am wary of installing SP2 and its
new firewall. Do you have any experience with whether or not SP2's security
features "mess-up" local networks like its predecessor?

Hi,
MS has a list of "problems" with SP2. You may want to find this list and
see if anything pertains to what you are running and do the prep work for
it.
I have done 3 personal machines so far with no issues.
Thanks and have a Great Day!

I am pretty much a novice. I understand that eventually I should be
receiving the XP2 Service Pack thru my automatic updates feature. (I have a
Dell, XP Home 2000). I've read some stuff about problems with the new XP2.
I've ordered the CD, but now have cold feet, and am wondering if I should
maybe turn off my automatic updates & wait till
the "bugs" are worked out. - trouble is, I'm not savvy enough to know
if I'm asked first whether I want to install an update, whether I should or
should not, so have been just getting all the automatic ones.
