Capturing the image is only part of the process.  The next part is
processing it - to print, to email, etc.  If can can, obtain a
photo from a friend with a 4 or 5 mpixel camera and play with it
on your pc to see if you can do what you want - enlarge, crop,
print, etc.  to your satisfaction.  You can try the same with a
3.2 mp file.
You may find yourself upgrading your pc or printer to handle all
the resolution.
Some of the cameras are really tough on batteries.   Memory cards
are dropping quickly in price, but even 512mb cards fill up
quickly, and the cameras usually come with small cards.  Sony
memory sticks are often interchangeable between their video and
digital cameras and pda's, most other camera cards are not that
portable.
