Awwwww, Kathy.  That is so disappointing, and I'm sorry.  A personal question.
Is there money tied up in the process?  Have you paid out a certain sum in
order for the contractor to accept the job?  It almost seems that you may
be wise to seek legal counsel in the situation.  If I'm way off base in
this, please forgive me.  It just seems not good business practice for them
to be putting you off this way, especially with no explanation.
Praying things will turn around in your favor, and soon.
