I just have to jump in...I read the article opposing a national sales
tax...and what it says makes perfect sense....HOWEVER, how do we as a
nation get the taxes required to support necessary public programs and not
have people be able to wiggle out of paying their taxes.....I am a CPA and
back in my former days of practicing public accounting it made me sick to
see clients play every game in the book to wiggle out of taxes they
rightfully owed...fortunately...I didn't do taxes (I did audit work) or I
would have given more than one client a piece of my mind (needless to say,
the firm I worked for would have sent me hiking).

Did anyone see the reports on what Kerry paid in federal income tax last
year...a "whopping $ 90,000" ...not much when you consider what his "real
income was"....wish I could see the legal bills and accountant bills he
paid in his avoidance of all the taxes. Again, legal ...but in my
estimation morally wrong. I'm not Kerry bashing by any means...dear George
didn't pay his "fair" share...but based on his income he did pay more
percentage wise. The list of avoiders would be very long...but the problem
needs to be solved.

Any really good ideas?
