Bob, the cw id only reads the frequency. It's to bad Icom did not better
utilize this feature.

As for scanning memory banks, you can only scan one bank at a time. I do
not know how to program the memory banks by hand because I use the cloning
software and I just never had the desire or patience to figure it out by
hand.

In any case, once the memory banks are programmed to your liking, it is easy
to select the bank you want to scan. Follow these steps.

First some notes. The memory button toggles between "all" memory and
"memory bank". To scan a single bank you of course must be in "memory bank"
mode. You can tell which mode you're in by the number of digits it takes to
select a memory channel. For example, I have memory #000 programmed to my
call frequency. I press the memory button and then press 000, and after the
last 0 is pressed there is a long beep, meaning I'm in memory 000 and in
full memory mode. If however, there is a long beep after the second press
of 0, then I know I am in the memory bank mode and in memory 00 of whatever
the bank is currently selected.

I have several UHF (440) repeaters programmed into one bank. I put the
first UHF repeater in memory 400, so if I want to scan this bank I first go
to the full memory mode, then press 400, then press the memory key to enable
the memory bank. To start the scan hold down the scan button until you hear
a long beep.

I have a dozen or so banks programmed including a couple of analog trunked
systems. I have no problems scanning the bank I want, but I do wish there
was a way to scan multiple banks.

Sorry if my instructions sound complicated. It may seem complicated at
first, but after a couple of tries you'll see it's really a piece of cake.

Subject: thanks, John

I just bought an ict-90a, John, and I have most of it figured
out, at least, the features I need to use. one part the manual from
Icanworkthisthing.com does not explain clearly to my satisfaction is setting
up and scanning memory banks. I would like to be able to scan a single bank
or several banks. I would sure appreciate any help. I guess that the banks
are not identified in cw as frequency and memory number are. is that the
case?
