Hi Jagpal,
You should run the installation disk that came with your scanner,
which will install the twain driver needed. I just went through this
with mine when I (finally) put in XP on one of my machines.
If not, you can always go to the canon website. Here is a direct URL

and select the download link from there. According to the XP
compatibility chart at the site, besides the drivers, you also need to
install the toolbox. That download is also there.
