A month ago, a routine blood test showed that my Red Blood Cell count was
low: 4.42 m/cmm, with a normal range of 4.50 to 6.00 m/cmm. An test for
occult blood in the stool was positive. My family doctor referred me to a
gastro-enterologist. This doctor ran some blood tests:

Gliadan Antibodies
Gliadin AB IGA Result: 100 Units, where >30 is "moderate to strong"
Gliadin AB IGG Result: 17 Units, where <24 is "negative"

Tissue Transglutaminase IG
(tTG) Ab, IgA Result: 11, where <20 is "negative"

Gastrin result: 35 pg/mL Normal: 0-108 pg/mL

T3, Free result: 314 pg/mL Normal: 230-420 pg/mL

TSH, Ultra Sensitive (F) Result: 2.1 mIU/l Normal: 0.40-5.50

Prothrombin Time Result: 11.2 seconds Normal: 9.0-11.5

INR Result: 1.1 Normal: 0.9-1.1

PTT Result: 30 seconds Normal: 22-34

Free T4 result: 1.1 ng/dL Normal: 0.8-1.8

He also did an endoscopy exam of the stomach and intestines from both ends.

His office called to tell me that I was Celiac. When I finally got to see
him a couple of weeks later, I asked if the intestinal biopsy was positive,
and he said no. I said I thought that a positive biopsy was required to
diagnose CD, and he said that maybe he didn't pick the right spots in the
intestine, but that the blood tests showed that I was Celiac.

Did I get a proper diagnosis? Or should I get a second opinion? If so, I
would like a recommendation. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

I don't want to eat gluten-free if I don't have to.

Dick
