Rum thing, this! If a mainly/originally American problem is adressed by European media, are they not allowed to be critical of the society that spawned it? Then consider the fact that the two major parties in the US are both politically to the right of most European parties - would a "left-of-center" paper not be mainly in the negative irrespectivly of who ran the country in question? Many Americans also seem to be blind to the fact that the angle of most European media reports on the USA is not one of criticism, but of factual report or even sympathy when called for. And American media, when the general American attitude to a subject differs from the general European attitude, would they not criticise? We know they do!
