I do not want to use vegetable oils as a source of Omega-3. I get more
than enough omega-3 from daily sardines (packed in olive oil). I just want
to minimize Omega-6. Next to olive oil, the only oils lower in Omega-6
that I am aware of are macadamia nut oil and coconut and palm oils. The
ALCAT people do not have the antigen for macadamia nut or bison (what, no
buffalo burgers?!). The other bizarre thing about the test I had is that
the results from a previous test showed an extreme reaction to cottonseed
(which I never consume), yet the current test showed no reaction. When I
questioned the nutritionist at the ALCAT testing center, she replied that
you almost never get the same results twice. (Then what the heck's the
purpose of the test???) She said in her case, a few foods will
consistently show up as reactive, but in general, she's had 4 tests with 4
different results. Then she went on to say that stress, leaky gut or other
factors (huh?) could affect the results. Also, the test is done in
Florida, but my plasma was drawn in NY. Perhaps the time delay in
processing could affect the results. I'll get off this topic now but I
feel like I wasted my money.
