I have a couple of the TS-2000's radios and will say this: Receive audio
is great in comparison to the Ts-570 series. Filtering, transmit audio is
all better. Yes, the TS-520 or TS-570 will get you there but the Cadillac
is much more comfortable for the long haul and the short haul. I don't use
the tnc or satellite capabilities but they are there too. In fact my Ts-940
sits off to the side because the receive audio is much better on the Ts-2000
plus being able to punch a button and get the signal strength and other
features are cool. I know we were comparing Ts-570's and Ts-2000 series of
radios but I had to bring up the TS-940 which is one of the real tried and
true radios with Kenwood audio but... Now for the monetary difference I
would much rather wait and have the Ts-2000 and wait a little longer to save
up for it than get the TS-570. I've had both in my possession and done the
side by side checks. The filtering on the IF-dsp is much better than the
AF-filtering Ts-570's plus your able to reject those annoying people that
crowd in on you while in the middle of a QSO. 50 watts on UHF is good and
of course there is the 100 watts on 2m and 6 meters. I've made many many
contacts on 6 meters using a small 3 element 6m beam and had many
unsolicited compliments on my audio using the Heil Gold line mic that came
with the radio. Most of all is the accessibility of the TS-2000. There are
some great people on this list that have written up button lay outs and such
for using the TS-2000. Anyway, I think you know how I feel on the
subject... I am a total with absolute no vision by the way so I am speaking
from that stand point not one of a partial. I just wanted to clarify so no
one misunderstands.

Hi;
I realize this is old news but briefly, what is the story with the Kenwood
ts2000? Other than the fact that we have 2 meters and 440 in the same
package as the hf radio what else do we gain? Does the vs3 give you more
info than you get with the 570?
I never seriously looked because it seemed a bit out of my price range.
