Actually, that is not true. The Kenwood TS790 covers 2 meters, and 70 cm
from 430 MHz to 450 MHz. It will voice the PL tones. What make this radio
less interesting to you is that it is an all mode radio with a footprint
that makes it about the same size as an HF rig. I like weak signal
work. But the VS2 synthesizer voices the PL frequencies very nicely in
this radio. Incidentally, there was also an optional module to put 1.2 GHz
in this radio as well. It was really built for satellite work.
I don't have the newer FM only radios, but I think Kenwood makes one of
these that you can voice the Pl tones also. Sorry I can't be more help here.
