Hi Bob.

These radios use boards that are made by the radio manufacturers as
accessories to the radios.  In the case of the Kenwood radios mentioned
here, the TR751A uses a Kenwood VS1 voice synthesizer.  The VS1 is getting
pretty hard to find, but it can still be found for one who is
persistent.  The Kenwood TS790 uses the VS2 synthesizer.  It also is no
longer made by Kenwood, but I haven't looked for one for a while, so I
don't know how difficult these are to locate.  Of course, if you can find
one of these radios that already has the board installed, then that makes
it a lot nicer because you don't have the hassle of having to install it.

Some Icom radios make speech boards to read out the frequency and mode to
you also.
