This is a watershed moment in the history of Celiac Disease.
Great credit is due to the advocacy groups, research institutions and
industry representatives who have joined together in this effort as well as
the effort for labeling legislation.
Those of us currently diagnoses and those who will now be diagnosed sooner
and have better care owe a great debt of gratitude to these groups.
I had a chance to thank some of these people in person at the Conference and
I am proud to be a member of their organizations.
According to the web they are:
Research Institutions: Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University, Peter
Green, MD; Mayo Clinic GI Center, Joseph Murray, MD; University of Chicago
Celiac Disease Program, Stefano Guandalini, MD; and University of Maryland
Center for Celiac Research, Alessio Fasano, MD
Support Organizations: American Celiac Society, Annette Bentley; Celiac
Disease Foundation, Elaine Monarch; and Gluten Intolerance Group, Cynthia
Kupper, RD, CD
Industry Representatives: Dietary Specialties, Inc.; Gluten-Free Living
Magazine; Gluten-Free Pantry; Bob and Ruth's Dining & Travel Club; and
Prometheus Laboratory
Thank you to all.
