Do you remember behind George Besemer's house was an octagon shaped concrete
foundation, back in a notch in the hillside? That was the base of the water
tower, according to dad, the train would stop in Besemer for coal and water,
since it was easier there than in Ithaca. They also picked up milk from the
Besemer farm. If you crossed Route 79 diagonally, to the south, just east of
the bridge over the creek, the railroad bed is still visible heading toward
Brooktondale.

Do we dare tell anyone that the mansion was 900 square feet but the estate
rambled on for 8 acres?
Anyway, I always thought the train stop had crossed Besemer Hill Road, which
would have been north of the manor house, wouldn't it? Getting old really
sucks when there's too much other stuff cluttering the brain.
