I finally got the radio to work with the computer.  Seems I had the wrong
software.  A friend did the same thing I did and clued me in.  There is a
listing for the th-d7 and the th-d7a which if you look on the back under
the battery has a g in parenthesis.  Once I got the right software, it
worked.  Also,k the cable is easy to make.  I can't solder that small, but
if you can or if you can get sighted help, it is sub mini stereo pluc and
a female db9.  Pin 2 goes to tip.  Pin 3 to ring.  5 goes to ground.  By
the way, the manual shows this backwards.
