I saw a GI doc this morning (due to recent anemia), and we got to talking about drugs. He said that celiacs should not take nonsteroidal drugs like Advil, Bextra, and Aleve. For some reason, I can't remember exactly what he said, these can make celiac sprue much worse--especially GI damage. He did say that other pain killers such as Tylenol, Ultram, and Flexerill are fine, though. (Unfortunately, for me this means that I can only take Tylenol for my joint pain, and it certainly does not work as well as the others.) I just wanted to pass on this bit of information since it was definitely news to me.
