Just wanted to send out a caution..... My mother has been diagnosed with celiac for 17 years and started suffering heartburn and other problems within the last couple of months. She had switched from Occuvite to Preservision at the recommendation of her eye care specialist and we must have forgotten to double-check the gluten-free status. We first suspected her current problems might be due to the clear Citrucel she is taking daily, which was also something new (she had been taking the orange sugar free type). I called and the company assured me that all types of Citrucel are gluten free. Just on a chance, I called Bausch and Lomb to inquire about the Preservision and Occuvite and lo & behold - they are NOT gluten free. She says they "don't have very much gluten" but they are not gluten-free. So we will have to match the formula in Preservision with other gluten-free vitamins. Preservision is supposed to be the best for macular degeneration; just not if you are celiac. If anyone has any suggestions about this, I'd love to hear them. Thank you!
