funny, I only have six items and they are all checked. Anyone know what
soap is?

Windows is prompting you to confirm that you want to accept the changes made
in msconfig. Next time, choose "selective mode," and see if that makes a
difference.
It is often possible to remove tons of stuff using msconfig without
compromising performance. On my PC, I have checked only three of the 16
items on the msconfig startup page. "ScanRegistry" is important, so be sure
not to uncheck it. With every item is checked, my PC takes a lot longer to
boot.
