Hi, in addition to my last post, your drive sounds very much as though it
has bad sectors?

<It hung on "trying to reclaim cluster" number such and
such.  It stayed there about 45 minutes. >

Try the DELPART.EXE though, it may help. Obviously, if the drive is bad, it
will have to be replaced.
If you manage to format it eventually, try running scan disk before
installing the o/s  to identify any bad sectors.
