I wish there was a better way to spell a scream. I was ready to do both
that and throw a brick through the TV this morning. A local news show was
interviewing the author of "What, No Meat?", a book designed to help
parents when their kids go vegetarian. No comment on vegetarianism as a
whole, but what really pissed me off was when the author stated
vegetarianism is healthy "from infancy all the way through old age."
Infancy? I hope she didn't mean veganism -- under that philosophy, you
could technically say breast milk is bad for you. I just find it sad to
think there are toddlers and pre-schoolers out there -- kids growing like
lightening -- building their body frames with the help of tofu versus what
they need to build strong bones and muscles.

Every time a Paleo or low-carb author is interviewed, they get at least one
"but" or "what if" question. "But critics say we NEED carbs," or "What if
you're eating too much fat or not enough vegetables?" Every time, without
fail. It'd be hard for me not to get too tough, but if *I* were conducting
such an interview, I'd have asked this author, "Many adults and teens have
chosen to go vegetarian, but are there any studies to show this is healthy
for babies?" Tssssssss! (sound of a tofu steak being branded an' grilled)
Hell, NO, there aren't any studies on this! None that I know of, anyway.
Either way, I'm sure the woman would've looked like a deer in the headlights
(pun fully intended). I'm bothered that no one has the testicular fortitude
to ask such questions.
