Is there no better possibility?  Is there no need for skills other than
those of the trucking, security and oil industries?
Is there no motivation other than greed?

I too have been tempted.  I may be stupid, but greed is not an
accusation that is likely to stick.  And my stupidity may be believing
that I can do more good than harm and help my country turn a shameful
adventure into something good.
