Go hard core paleo, at least for a few weeks. You will find that your
craving for sweets diminishes. And when you do eat sweets after that, a
lot less is needed to do the job. I started with Atkins before paleo
and found it an easy transition. Paleo is actually easier because fruit
and veggies are not so restricted.

If you are in a big hurry to lose weight, stick to the very low carb
Atkins approach, using only paleo foods. Adding more fruits and veggies
will slow it down but it may be more healthy and easier to maintain the
diet in the long run.
